artmusicvegan: You can check the second weekend of Photoville starting today at 4Pm EST in the heart of Brooklyn Bridge Park along the Brooklyn waterfront, between Dumbo and Atlantic Ave.  PHOTOVILLE is a new Brooklyn-based photo destination - a veritable village of freight containers transformed into temporary exhibition spaces. Photoville will feature a feisty mix of exhibitions, lectures, hands-on workshops, nighttime projections, a photo dog run, a camera greenhouse, and a summer beer-garden with food trucks that will create a photography destination like no other.  A few of the featured photographers include Brooklyn based Russell Frederick’s  exhibit Dying Breed, photos of Bedford Stuyvesant documenting a culturally diverse community at risk. Josh Lerer’s Becoming Visible, a portrait series of homeless transgender teens using platinum and palladium printing techniques. Australian photographer Stephen Dupont’s Raskols: The Gangs of Papua New Guinea, a series of portraits that explores custom & tribal culture in Papua New Guinea. Cruel & Unusual  the work by eleven women photographers revealing life behind bars curated by Hester Keijser and Pete Brook.
